TIPS FOR TODAY

You might be thinking, “There’s no way I can learn this in 10 minutes.”
Good — because you’re not supposed to.

The goal isn’t to perfect the challenge in ten minutes. It’s to introduce your fingers and your brain to something new so they’ll be a little smoother the next time you sit down with a similar skill.

Motor-learning research shows that short, imperfect reps create more progress than long, grinding sessions. Ten minutes keeps your brain sharp, your hands relaxed, and the habit alive.

And here’s the quiet superpower of the 10-minute rule: it gets you started. Most people end up playing longer because once you’re in motion, the fun takes over.

So today, just touch the new idea a few times. Let that be enough.

Ten minutes builds momentum — and momentum builds players.

  1. Hi. I like the idea behind these lessons, and I’ve always liked the way Tony teaches. Thank you for that.

Is this website always so glitchy? I can hardly get the video to play and have almost no control over play once I get it going. I’ve rebooted my tablet, and reloaded the website SEVERA Times with no luck. It makes me very reluctant to pay for the course when I’m not sure I can get it to play consistently. I didn’t have as many problems on Day 1. Very frustrated today. I’m not completely sure I’ll even get this comment to post.

I have 3 guitars, two acoustic and one electric, and am playing an Epiphone Hummingbird.

    Thank you

  2. Would like it if each measure had its own looping play video. So like today would have five total “Play” videos. A looping video of each of the four measures, then the last “Play” video would be the complete combination looping.

  3. I’m 75 yrs old. been trying to learn since 2005. I’ve bought 7or 8 guitars….kant play one!!!.
this one is a epiphone ” pr35u. had the action lowered when I bought it.

  4. I play a couple of Breedloves, one parlor and one full size. I set up both of them and one requires constant monitoring of humidity since it’s a “thirsty” wood construction and I live in a very dry climate. My 60 year old Gibson classical guitar doesn’t get much use these days.

  5. Hi Tony. I’m playing a Martin SPD-16K that I got new in 2004. It has a spruce top and koa back and sides. Sometimes I can’t believe how much the sound has improved over the years. It sounds so sweet now. Take care.

  6. Fender CD-60S Solid Top Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar – All Mahogany, it is kind of too big for me.

I’ll be getting an Enya Electric Guitar Inspire 39″ Smart Electric for Christmas, I’m hoping the size will be a little more manageable for a beginner.

  7. I’m playing an Ibanez Acoustic VC40WSCE-OPB from Guitar World. It is way better than I am at the moment and, all going well, I will upgrade to something nicer, but at this stage in my learning it is working and I like the matte finish.

  8. I play a Takamine acoustic electric guitar. It was a gift after my $36.00 guitar of 35 years got damaged. Ron

  9. One of my musical mentors told me that my guitar should be “a little better than me.” 🙂 So my guitar is a Taylor American Dream in koa wood. She’s a beaut and she’s definitely better than me in every way.

  10. Just got this guitar before the first class
Vintage acoustic I believe made in the UK
Met the owner the next village over
Full drum kit in the basement and I lost count of the guitars after ten
Paraphernalia on the walls from his previous bands and a free CD ( remember those) with his original songs with him and this guitar on the jacket
I have him every penny he was asking for this guitar
