Why I'm Here

I started my journey in guitar learning when I was 19/20 years old. First I took an old and I think all laminated classical guitar that was in my grandparents’ basement. After breaking a string, I went to a small music shop and I end up buying the cheapest acoustic guitar. A big mistake because it was all laminated too, sounded horrible and had high action, but I didn’t know anything about it by then and I didn’t want to spend more money for something that I didn’t know if I would like it. After a summer hurting my fingers I managed to be able to play a few basic chords (yes I even managed to learn the F and Bm barre chords with a capo to lower the action!!). Full with satisfaction and with some savings in my pocket I decided that I needed to upgrade my guitar. I drove for 6 hour to the south of Spain because I saw online great prices on a Martin d28 and some gibson and after fooling around with both I decided to take the Martin home. I love its sound and feelings! But eventually I got bored of playing the same strumming paterns plus I studied abroad and had a couple of years gap playing only twice or four times a year. Last March I felt the need of playing guitar again and this time I decide to focus on fingerpicking.  Since I didn’t feel confortable about sending my Martin to a Stockholm dorm, I bought a little superconfortamble Gretsch Jim Dandy. And after putting a bone saddle and lowering a bit the action got a nice mellow tone plus I also use it as my travel guitar without worrying about humidity, high temperatures or dings!

Now I am GASing for an all mahogany OM!

City

I want to be able to understand how improvisation and composition works. I think that instead of learning songs, I should have begun with the foundation of guitar learning to understand how songs work and not only copy and repeat until the brain and fingers remember the whole song. They say that it's never to late to start!
