Why I'm Here

I started singing and playing trumpet around age seven. I took lessons in voice and trumpet pretty much through high school. I sung for a couple of rock bands, but I had a gap where I didn’t play or sing for a good ten years. In my early thirties I started playing guitar in church. I picked the trumpet back up, and I added a bit of harmonica. Finally I got a mandolin. I find the lessons here challenging because they are a little out of my wheelhouse.

My main acoustic is a Tacoma DR-20 with a Sunrise/K&K stereo pickup system. I have a Martin 12-String that is Fishman Loaded. I often use an old Washburn D30s on my videos (Sunrise Pickup). My mando is a Washburn MS6W Jethro Burns model (Baggs Radius Pickup). I play a G&L ASAT Classic Tele, a Washburn Nuno N6, a couple of old custom shop Washburns (EC26 and a who knows), I have a Mexican Fender Strat, a Mustang Special, and for Rockabilly, a Wahburn J9 with TV Jones Classic Pickups. I also Have a Yamaha U1 piano and a case of Harps. I’m planning to sell off most of the guitars as I head into retirement. Besides what I’ve listed, I’ve owned and sold many more.

City

Generally speaking, I am proficient at the music I am called upon to play at church (mostly contemporary Christian), and Blues and Rock and Roll stuff for the occasional gig. However, I have felt that I have been stagnant for quite a while, and I am using the Acoustic Challenge to jumpstart my progress, and perhaps take it in a new direction.
