Why I'm Here

I have been “attempting” to play guitar on and off for about 20 years now.  I have never had a formal lesson unless you consider watching Youtube videos just that.  I have bought and eventually sold a number of guitars both acoustic and electric until I found a sweet deal on a cheap little Yamaha acoustic from Guitar Center in Tulsa, OK about 6 years ago.  I have always wanted to learn how to play well enough to be in a band, but have never really had the time or the money to take formal lessons.  My wife decided to let me buy a Gibson acoustic finally and after playing numerous models I chose the HP 735 R.  The new slimmer body, “Advanced Response” neck profile and richlite fretboard and saddle were just some of the reasons I chose that guitar.  I would not call myself a beginner as I can pretty easily figure out the chords to a lot of country songs that I like, but I am far from good.  The Gibson has become my go to guitar because it is amazingly easy to play.  I am excited to see if joining this challenge will help me achieve my goal to become a better player, but only time and a lot of practice will tell.
