Why I'm Here

In 1983 I purchased my first guitar, an Applause. All I knew was that I wanted to learn to play and did not realize the incredible differences in guitars, tone, and playability. This guitar was not a good one – it was hard to play and buzzed like a bee, so I lost interest very quickly. Life and family took over until 2009 when my daughter wanted to play and borrowed the old Applause. Not much later she got a nice Fender acoustic (the Applause resides in her closet in Seattle) and played a lot, so I thought I’d try it again myself.
Got a Big Baby Taylor, but didn’t like it’s bright sound. After touring the Gibson Factory in Bozeman and then the Martin factory in Nazareth, I decided a Martin would be the way to go so I sold the BBT and got a Martin OM-1. Nice guitar, but it still did not have the tone my ears were listening for. Went to Music Villa time and again in hopes of hearing the sound I was after and last September a Taylor 324e turned out to be the one. Traded my Martin and am very happy to be playing the 324. I really love it. The mahogany is rich.
I’d sure like to get another Martin, though, but first off I’m here to become a better player.

City

The sound of a guitar is so pleasing and beautiful to my ear that my interest is in being able to make those incredible sounds myself. The challenge of it and the satisfaction of playing well are also very important, knowing that things of value in life take time and hard work and in the end bring an inner warmth, so hard to explain.
Besides, 5 years will go by whether I do something or not, so I'm going to do something.
The other part is that I love music in general, and the music culture. Getting together with family and friends and making music is a dream of mine.
