    So I’ve completed one lesson on the beginner course and I’ve already added a 2nd guitar to my arsenal. A nice used yamaha fg400 came up and I grabbed it. I was wondering if anyone was familiar with these guitars? Most of what I see has a letter after the 400 but this one does not. Thanks for any info now it’s back to learning. I should probably have more chords than guitars in my arsenal lol.

    Very nice guitar there. It’s always nice to have another guitar. Is your other guitar a dreadnought too? Nice to have a guitar sitting where you are more apt to pick it up. Like… next to the couch in the front room 😉

      Yes both are dreadnoughts. I figured the more the merrier.

    So, already having GAS attacks, eh!? (Guitar – or Gear – Acquisition Syndrome, just in case you haven’t come across the term yet). How many guitars do you need? “Just one more” is nearly always the right answer😆

    Can’t help with the Yamaha question, but welcome to TAC and enjoy your guitar journey. Check out Tony’s Skills Courses after you’ve done the 30 days to play. It’s a great program and there’s always helpful advice and encouragement here on the forums.

    Hey @AlteredGoods ;

    The Yamaha FG400 is a great guitar, period. And yes, it’s a great guitar for the money. But it’s a good guitar period.

    So, the letter after the FG400. Common is to put an E after which means it has electronics and/or a C which means cutaway. Yours has neither electronics or a cutaway, so it’s “just” an FG400. Many would think that’s actually better.

    Enjoy the ride. The most important rule now and everywhere along your guitar journey is to HAVE FUN!
