Tony, you’ve probably heard this from everyone, but becoming a student of yours has really benefitted my guitar playing in so many ways. I play every day; and I love your lessons. – Jim F, TAC Member (8 months)

Is it too advanced for me?

Many new members know a few chords at best. If you’re a total beginner, you’ll be starting where many TAC members started before you. So no, this shouldn’t be too advanced for you!

Is this too easy for me?

So you’re an intermediate player, eh? We’ve got many members with some solid experience, including guitar instructors and people who actually play gigs. They love that TAC provides inspiration, new angles, variety, and well roundedness. So no, this shouldn’t be too easy for you (if you sign up and feel it’s just not your thing, we’ve got you covered with the 60 day perfect match guarantee.)

How often do you release new lessons?

Every weekday a new Practice Challenge is released. Every month a new song lesson is released. I also constantly release add-ons to the fundamentals learning path that starts at Acoustic Guitar 101 and goes to Fingerstyle 101 and Flatpicking 101. New courses like this get released regularly.

Any contracts or commitments?

Nope. You can upgrade or cancel your account anytime – for any reason. If you cancel before the end of the billing period, you’ll retain access until that period is over.

Are the lessons and courses downloadable?

Yes! All tabs and videos are downloadable and the Practice Plans are all archived. When you sign up you’ll have access to everything ever released on Tony’s Acoustic Challenge.

What is available to me as soon as I sign up?

You’ll immediately have access to more than 40 fingerpicking and flatpicking classics that you can take to any jam. You’ll be able to jump into the current month’s practice plan which is a daily guitar challenge that rotates between warm ups, licks, improvisation, and chord progressions. You’ll also have access to my Acoustic Guitar 101 course, Acoustic Maintenance course, album downloads, 76 Quick Lessons, and other goodies (I’m probably leaving a few out!)

Can non-US residents sign up?

Of course! We’ve got members from all over the world.

Can I ask Tony questions directly?

Yes! Every month is the live TAC Hangout and Q&A where you can ask Tony anything. He’s also on the site daily replying to comments, reviewing performance submissions, and answering questions.

What style does TAC focus on?

Primarily bluegrass, fingerstyle, and fingerpicking.

What if I fall behind?

The Practice Plan is not sequential so you can do one challenge a week or all five and not feel like you’re missing something important. The program is designed so that you can take a day off or a week or two off and then jump right back in where you left off. The only pressure you’ll feel is from yourself, and that’s a great thing!

At first I wasn’t sure I could trust that I was getting value for money. There are quite a few scams online and I didn’t want to spend the money if I wasn’t getting some kind of value.

On becoming a TAC member I found great songs and lessons, broken down in a way that made sense to me and a sense of community. I like seeing other people’s guitars and profiles and reading the comments from time to time. I feel like with a new approach from TAC and new kinds of exercises and songs my playing has moved forward from where I was in September, and that’s all I wanted.

I really appreciate how things are broken down AND how there’s the option to hear it slow/medium/fast–that’s brilliant! I love Tone Taxi–great idea. In general I just really like Tony’s approach to everything. There’s fun, humor and just a relaxed approach to it all that works for me. Another benefit for me is not having to go to a studio for a lesson. I have tried different lessons and teachers over the past few years, but what I love about TAC is that if there’s a week where I’m really busy I just do less guitar; in the weeks with more time I do more. There’s never the pressure of the “weekly lesson” and did I practice “enough” to make it worth going that week.

Like with many things, you’ll only get out of TAC what you put into it. Having said that, it’s a relaxed, logical, structured approached to improving your finger style playing and picking that will appeal to a wide variety of players who are looking to improve their skills.

If my enthusiasm hasn’t come through yet, I just wanted to thank the team for putting together a quality product with thought, care and humour. It shows in the lessons and the videos and it makes it a joy.
