Brian Boitano

This lick is an awesome one for traveling up the neck. This flat-picking lick is one that starts out fairly plain jane, and then it migrates up the neck. Not only does it go up the neck, it contains the all-powerful chromatic run that you will come to love. This chromatic run will lead you to an up-the-neck G chord shape that I have always used as a safe landing spot. I want you to see the connection between open position and this up the neck chord shape, I think once you gain comfort in traveling to and from this chord shape the middle of the neck will start to feel a bit more comfortable for you.
