  • BILL G – HOW I TAC 4/22/21

Posted by BillGuitarGordon1023 on April 22, 2021 at 7:26 pm

Here’s what my routine looks like.

1.) How many days per week do you play?

I try to play every day of the week. It doesn’t always work out but I don’t beat myself up about it if I miss a day. If I do miss a day, I’ll double up the next day. About the only reason for ne to miss is fishing or on vacation. I use the weekdays to TAC (and weekends when I can) and use the weekends for playing with a friend or brother, or both for 2-5 hours per day on Saturday and Sunday.

<b style=”font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit;”>2.) What time of day do you play?

<b style=”font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit;”>I play after dinner, typically around 7-7:30 pm daily and play until 9:00 most nights.

    3.) Where do you play?

During the week it is in my office / guitar room. It was just my guitar room until covid hit, and now I am able to work remotely so I have my office in there. I can spin around in my chair and grap a guitar at any point.

4.) What was your guitar life like before having a guitar routine & how has implementing a consistent guitar routine helped you? (if possible name 3 ways).

Life before TAC was spent taking group guitar lessons and trying to learn through books and online. I tried to play for 10 minutes a day but was unable to, as I could not stop at 10 minutes. When I started I had a 3 1/2 year goal to be able to play (well). I am 2 years into that goal. I feel that TAc is helping me reach my goal. I am not super talented so it takes me a little more work to get the results I want.

Now I focus on the daily challenges before I do anything else and am able to focus and see where things are going. I look forward to working on how to incorporate the lessons I learn into my regular playing.

I have definitely seen an improvement and others have commented on my improvement since I started TAC. I attribute that to the time I spend putting the work in during the week.

I am now more comfortable playing due to the daily routine, and have even been singing, which is something I was not doing before TAC because I was too focused on playing the music and could not be distracted with singing, as it is definitely another skill.

I am having a lot of fun playing. Last summer on Saturdays my brother brought his bass over and a friend would come by with his guitar and the 3 of us would play. We would have neighbors gathering around the yard to listen and we got many favorable comments. I am now able to play by myself for family and friends and get a kick out of it. I have played a duet with a friend who is an accordian player. I have even played at birthday parties and a funeral reception and got my first $’s for a tip (joke?). Looking forward to doing the same this summer after playing indoors all season.

5.) Bonus Question: What is one non-guitar item that is a must have in your guitar routine?

I am thinking of my 40″ tv that I stream my lessons to from my laptop to so I can see better. But then again I am thinking beer. Yep, beer is it. Always good to loosen up with a little chord lubricant.

    Take care!
