1.) How many days per week do you play?

My goal is to play guitar every single day because it’s one of my favorite things to do!! This is not always practical so I usually play 4-5 days per week.

2.) What time of day do you play?

I usually play guitar in the evening around 7pm after work. And all day on the weekends when I can get away with it.

    3.) Where do you play?

I play in the dining room with my laptop at the table. Or, in the living room on the sofa.

4.) What was your guitar life like before having a guitar routine & how has implementing a consistent guitar routine helped you? (if possible name 3 ways).

Before I had a guitar routine I was spinning my wheels. I had no focus so I tended to just noodle or play songs I already knew. I felt overwhelmed by the amount of material I wanted to learn and didn’t know where to start. I wasn’t making the progress I wanted.

Having a consistent guitar routine has helped me by giving me specific and short daily lessons that are easy and fun to complete and it feels satisfying to check it off done. I like going back a few weeks later to the same lesson and see the progress I am making.

I keep my guitar handy and ready to go, so that when it’s time to practice I have no excuses. I also keep my “project(s) of the week printed and ready, next to the computer so that after my 10 minute daily challenge I can get right to work on whatever else I am working on.

I have been writing down some small weekly goals that I keep next to my music, so that I can focus more on specific tasks and songs. It’s amazing how much you can get done with a list and a goal.

5.) Bonus Question: What is one non-guitar item that is a must have in your guitar routine?

My go-to non guitar item that has been the most helpful to me, is a practice log. It’s just a small notebook that I write down my guitar goals for the week. I keep it with my stack of songs/music that I am working on, and it helps keep me focused on what I want to accomplish for the week. And I love crossing things off once I finish each task.

Hi Carol, nice to see your routine, it works for you! Look forward to jamming again sometime. I am focusing again on TAC after not getting into it much recently, so I hope to continue to improve.

    Take care,

    Mike
