Jana B—How I TAC—4/28/21
1) How many days per week do you play?
I try to play twice every day in two shorter sessions. Sitting down for 10 minutes with the guitar will usually turn into at least 20 to 30 minutes and doesn’t overload my brain.
2.) What time of day do you play?
I love the afternoon around 4:00 followed by a late evening time around 11:00 to unwind when the house is quiet.
3.) Where do you play?
I set up a cozy cubby in the dormer of my bedroom. A table, a chair, a music stand, and my notebook and pen. Oh, and a guitar!
4.) What was your guitar life like before having a guitar routine and how has implementing a consistent guitar routine helped you (in 3 ways)?
What guitar life? Lol. Basically I was floundering around on the internet trying out different website instructors with little direction, motivation, or clear path. My playing would be inconsistent and directionless. Though I played in high school and returning to playing again after 40 years, I just didn’t know where to begin. Enter: Tony! With his clear and daily video challenges, I was hooked and on my way (again). I print the daily routines and keep them in a notebook to refer to. I am seeing that I am making strides and even my partner has noticed improvement. For me, the magic ingredients are:
*Consistency—having that daily challenge to look forward to working on.
*Motivation—Tony provides a clear and down-to-earth explanation and his videos are entertaining and have a folksy personal charm that allow for a personal feel to his teaching that really works for me.
*TAC family—In this really impersonal virtual world, it’s just plain nice to know there are folks like me out there and it’s nice to know you can reach out with questions.
Bonus question 5) What is one non- guitar item that is a must-have in your guitar routine? I have to admit that it is my phone as I usually watch TAC lessons from it. Oh, and usually a hot beverage.
Thanks for being an inspiration!
