1.) How many days per week do you play?

5 days a week is what i’m shooting for as my goal. Usually on the weekend, i’ll get some extra time in, which is the bonus!

<b style=”font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit;”>2.) What time of day do you play?

Hah! so this is strange, but it works for me. so normally I have a look at the daily challenge in the morning during the ‘other’ “morning routine” if you know what I mean. That gives me an intro to what I’ll be working on during my later session. Then I work all day, get the kiddo from daycare and finally when she’s in bed and sleeping (hopefully), around 7pm, I get to the daily challenge. This lets my mind work and get excited to play the challenge in the evenings. It also usually leads to me playing longer than the 10 mins.

    3.) Where do you play?

I typically play in the rec room/gym. I usually practice on an unplugged electric so it’s not too loud since again… hopefully that kiddo is sleeping, and I find my wife’s Dreadnought super loud, but it’s what we have 🙂 I use the acoustic more so on the weekend.

I also try and practice chord changes (I’m looking at you barre chords…..) with muted strums while watching some tv with my wife before bed time.

4.) What was your guitar life like before having a guitar routine & how has implementing a consistent guitar routine helped you? (if possible name 3 ways).

So i’ve had a guitar since about 2006. But honestly I would pick it up and could never really play much, due to my inconsistency. and by not play much, I mean it, I could play parts of songs, and make chords, but I couldn’t keep time, or change the chords quickly and cleanly enough to make the song recognizable. It was quite embarrassing to have a guitar in the house, and have someone ask the dreaded question: “oh, do you play?”

Anyhow that has started to change. I now have a few songs that I can actually play start to finish, and I’m learning the words and how to sing along, and will post in the ‘small victories’ forum when “I’m there” or just about.

So with the consistent practice, my familiarity with the fret board has gotten better, my rhythm is progressing so that it doesn’t always feel like i’m ‘trying to catch up’, and i’m having fun while doing it.

Seeing those small victories really helps to snowball the successes. So, would I love to win the contest, sure! Especially one of the Taylor Minis! But really, I feel like this could now be a life long journey, instead of driving past the trail head every few months and saying ” I should really do that hike”

    Cheers fellow TACers.

Oh, and I almost forgot the bonus question:

    What’s my favorite non-guitar item:

A hoodie, something about wearing a hoodie and playing a guitar puts me in a mind frame of sitting around a campfire and belting out some tunes.
