1.) How many days per week do you play?

With TAC, 7 days a week now. I’ll start to practice a lesson, then have to stop playing because it’s midnight, or later.

2.) What time of day do you play?

Usually after work from around 6 to midnight minus dinner and a movie. I’ll play for 3 to 4 hours now doing various things. I’m trying to learn singing as well, so incorporate that into my practice as well.

    3.) Where do you play?

I play in the basement at my desk.

Once a month though we do a jam session where a group of newbie singers meet up and belt out our newly learned(ish) songs.

My end goal is to play with an old guy band, but the jam sessions really teach us its waaay different singing in front of others. I can actually hear my own heart above the guitar as it tries to leave my chest.

Changing my mindset from it’s me playing to giving my listeners the song the best way I can. Just let the song be heard.

4.) What was your guitar life like before having a guitar routine & how has implementing a consistent guitar routine helped you? (if possible name 3 ways).

I had about one month of experience, twelve times a year for 45 years.

Would feel lousy then played the guitar for a month. I would partially learn a couple of songs to only forget them and have to relearn or at best only partially learn them wrong.

My litmus test for if I knew guitar was the guitar center. Could I sit there and play something that sounded like I knew what I was doing.

    Nope.

I plucked easy chords quietly and played my one lick which I play wrong every time. When I can sit in there and play like I know what I’m doing, I will reward myself with my first new acoustic guitar.

Currently have a couple of Kijiji purchases, one 12 string swapped for a case of beer, one at a garage sale for $35 which is where I got the free one as well with a broken bridge, but it’s an old Sovereign Harmony. Let’s not forget the one Santa got for my daughter.

I am a binge player, but now with your course (which is cheaper than the $1200 which I was going to spend), I have to play every day to keep that streak going. Not sure what those golden picks are, but man they are the great proverbial carrot and I want one.

I now know what I’m playing every day without searching. Normally I would have just played a couple of songs from the sheets and call it a night. I still do, but with a focus to get them right. With tempo, which I did not practice before.

You teach beat count and keep dropping explanations above my expertise level. As I keep listening, more and more will make sense.

You also showed some hockey highlights, so yeah, bonus points there. We could have grown up in the same town.

5.) Bonus Question: What is one non-guitar item that is a must have in your guitar routine?

An item would be the PC or tablet in which to read the music or watch your course. I try and sing each day as well, so water, for the singing part. Headphones is another one.
