How I TAC
Hey TAC Family!!!
I wanted to show you what my routine looks like:
1.) How many days per week do you play?
I pick a guitar up every day, even if it is for only 10 minutes before bed. The trick is to have guitars placed throughout the house so they are hard to avoid! I would say that at least 3-5 times per week I will have a focused practice session lasting an hour or more. Once you get started …
2.) What time of day do you play?
My extended practice sessions are usually between 7:00 and 10:00 PM. Me not a morning person!
3.) Where do you play?
I have guitars strategically placed in my bedroom and office, always rotating which ones. All others are kept in the basement which is climate controlled and where most practice takes place. As you may see in my picture, the Air Hockey table has multiple uses beyond air hockey (hope Tony understands!).
4.) What was your guitar life like before having a guitar routine & how has implementing a consistent guitar routine helped you? (if possible name 3 ways).
Previously, I was hopeful but very inconsistent (and frustrated). A routine has helped as:
– Always have a set time in mind “feel the “pull”)
– Seeing progress develops momentum, which builds on itself
– I truly hate falling behind with the daily exercises; which keeps me active
5.) Bonus Question: What is one non-guitar item that is a must have in your guitar routine?
A nail file! Every day I keep filing down the nails on my fretting hand so they don’t get in the way (hate that buzzing sound!)
