How I TAC
1.) How many days per week do you play?
I’m retired so I feel that I can commit myself to 7 days per week.
2.) What time of day do you play?
I play early in the morning. I hit it again around lunchtime and finally after dinner. I have been able to keep this schedule and I’m hoping I can continue for a long period of time.
3.) Where do you play?
Depending on the time of day I have two spots that I use. In the morning I play in the basement where I have several instruments and a computer. In the afternoon and evening I use the computer room where I have a guitar and I’m close to the piano.
4.) What was your guitar life like before having a guitar routine & how has implementing a consistent guitar routine helped you? (if possible name 3 ways).
Before I had a routine I struggled with what to practice. I was taking lessons but it seemed like I was making little if any progress. I had only started playing in 2017 but I felt that I should have progressed beyond where I was. I would sort through music trying to find something to play. 15 to 20 minutes would go by and I would just pack everything up and give up.
– When I shuffle down to the basement in the morning I know what I am going to do. I boot up my desktop and bring up that day’s challenge. No thinking involved.
– I read the comments from other TAC members and gain confidence knowing that others are having the same problems or revelations that I have.
5.) Bonus Question: What is one non-guitar item that is a must have in your guitar routine?
A sweatshirt. It is cold in the basement. It also keeps me from scratching the back of my guitar with my belt buckle.
