  • Loud Outdoor Acoustic

I am looking for an outdoor acoustic for volume. Anyone know if the DSS-15M has rear shifted bracing or the DSS-17? Heard this kind of X bracing can produce a little more volume.

Hi @musicianmh The loudest acoustic guitars I have heard are the Roy Smeck Radio Grande or Stage Deluxe. Gibson is the original maker of these signature models. For vintage guitars these can be found at a discount compared to other vintage guitars. They have all been modified as they were originally made for slide play. There are several modern luthiers who have reproduced them including Santa Cruz, Gibson (reissue) and Rockbridge. They are 12 fret to the body and are loud and can be driven hard to be even louder.

@musicianmh , Nice choice! I was reminded of this post today when I saw Matt Chulka from Eddies Guitars in St Louis: he was demonstrating an Iris version of the Roy Smeck Stage Deluxe. One of the least expensive reproductions and sounding pretty darn good. I know you made your choice but I put in the link for fun. Yep guitar geek move.
