Hi, here is some advice from a fellow beginner. I’ve posted this idea elsewhere on the forums and it got some good reception. It is:

    “Don’t think.”

In other words, don’t try to master the challenge, don’t WORRY about your present inability to master the challenge or even come close.

Your ONE job is to SHOW UP, 🙂 work on the challenge for 10 minutes (use a kitchen timer), mark complete, and walk away. Critical part: show up the NEXT day, put in the 10 minutes. And so on.

The point of Tony’s method is simply to get a guitar in your hands every day and play it, while learning some little snippet of technique and/or theory almost automatically. Competency, much less mastery, is entirely beside the point.

Over time, it adds up, and you improve almost as if by magic. Just by showing up for a few minutes!

And, soon you might be encouraged to spend more time at it, or tackle specific things, which is great, but be careful never to let the “just showing up” fall by the wayside. It is the indispensable core of your progress.

Prayers and best wishes to you and your beautiful sister.
