    There is something about that in the Fretboard Wizzard course – in the first section – Foundation of Five, the third lesson called Chord Matrix.

    An example: if you are in the key of C Major the notes are in this order:

    C D E F G A B C… the first note 1 (C) the third note 3 (E) and the fifth note 5 (G) become the three scales from which the chords for the song can be created.

    They are placed in a matrix with the 1 scale at the top, the 3 scale in the middle and the 5 scale at the bottom. From this matrix you can calculate the major, minor and diminished chords in the pattern of Maj, min, min, Maj, Maj, min, dim, and Maj reading from left to right. The first Major chord would be column 1 = C, E & G.

    I hope you have access to Fretboard Wizzard and can look it up. I am not far through the Fretboard Wizzard so if it comes up again later I’m not aware of that yet….
