I know the feeIing! Barre chords are hard on acoustic, less so on electric. But do bear in mind there is just SO much you can do without them that you shouldn’t beat yourself up too much if you don’t get them for a while. I just posted a Play For Us called The Coming Storm that uses mostly double stops (two note chords) and drone strings. Works a dream.
Just one last tip if you really want to learn barres I have been told by a very experienced guitarist you should start by learning power chords. Tony does have power chords in one of the tutorials but apparently if you can’t play these three note chords, you will struggle with barres. They are a kind of stepping stone to getting your hands ready for the full stretch. Worth a try and something I’m going to do this year to see if I can make any progress.
