    Hi TAC family,

    Hi All,

I joined the VwA group yesterday and played in my very first VOM! 😃 The VwA folks are very talented as well as welcoming and encouraging.

When I watched my videos after the session I discovered my camera’s angle did not actually show the guitar at all! 😳

So, today I reshot one of the songs I did in VwA and am sharing it with you. 🙂 Note that the black microphone pointing at my head is only there to see if any common sense may be detected! Apparently not! 😂

nice rhythm! its funny, your. song reminds me slightly of Pancho and Lefty ( one of my faves). keep on submitting songs. Maybe someday I will have the chutzpah to try so send a video. Im a long way from your level though. ps a lot of common sense was discovered by that microphone

Thank you @Mrfredsporty . Now that you mention it, the chord progression is reminiscent of Poncho and Lefty. It would be great to see and hear you play. We all learn from on another! 🙂

Wonderful! Great timing and you look very much like you relax and enjoy. Fantastic to just see someone truly enjoying the song. It helps me as a listener to enjoy. So glad I took the time to listen.

Thank you very much for your feedback and encouragement @rdf1967 . One of my gold is to relax and let the song flow and carry me along. I am still working on that and your feedback is very helpful. 🙂

This is my all time fav song!! Ive tried to learn it a million times & you just made it look so damn easy!! Way to go! The in between runs & everything! I’m inspired to try it again! Well down @kitman. Maybe I need a “common sense” mic as well lol

@Kitman !! Dude!! I get it now! The anchor is the C note on the first fret of B string! Never moves! I’m finally playing it now! AND it is easier & sounds better w/his harder chords. Thanks yo! #oncloudnine😁

Hi @BethL – you nailed it! The walks down and up are all routed around the C note! Thanks very much for your kind words and encouragement! I greatly appreciate it.

That’s terrific! You didn’t waver on guitar or vocals, and you nailed those higher parts. It’s great that you are playing with others. What is VOM and what does VwA stand for? Obviously, I’m a newbie. 🙂 Thanks for sharing this. Inspiration!!

Hello @SciencePete and welcome to TAC! We are glad you are here! I am a newbie myself with 37 days under my fingers so far. Tony and the TAC community are very welcoming, supportive and encouraging. I would also off that after just over 30 days I have experienced that the Guitar Routine and learning via the Daily Challenges works!

Sorry for all the acronyms! Here is the skinny:

VOM = Virtual Open Mic. These were organized by TAC members that used to get together in person prior to COVID. T/he VOMs are done using the Zoom meeting client. In these sessions guitar geeks play guitar, sing songs, talk and have an overall great time. They are managed separate from this site so TAC can stay focused on their mission and goals.

VwA = VOM with Altitude. This group is organized and lead my folks that are on Mountain Time. (a very clever name, eh? 😃).

There are a few other VOM groups as well. Your best bet is to reach out in a private message to @Real-Vic-G as he helps TAC members navigate to the site that hosts the VOMs.

I definitely encourage you to pursue the VOMs. They are really fun and you will learn by watching, listening and playing for other guitar geeks! Hope to see you in a VOM soon.

If I can be of any help, let me know! 😃.
