  • Metronome

I tried, again, to use my brother’s metronome. I didn’t like the constant ticking. I read enough comments that I felt that I really needed to try it, again.

I used it on Monday’s WU 15 and was able to get to 73 bpm! Today w/ Bearded Lady, I was able to successfully play, rhythm, tone, and w/ Tony at .75 bpm!!

    Wins for me!!

Well done. It is a tool. Used correctly it will work for you. Keep speed slow and sneak up on it, if the metronome is getting too annoying slow it down until you are relaxed and enjoying the current speed, then scootch it up a few beats per minute. So much easier for me than trying to chase the speed.

Way to go! I have only used one a couple of times, but also need to make use of that tool.

Congratulations on your metronome win! 👏 🎸 I need to start using one as well. The one I have is loud, so I don’t have to worry about being able to hear it.

@campfire , Good job on getting a metronome. I bought one last month. It surprising when you use it with a song and your tempo on the song is way off base. ha ha ha. Good Luck with it. I haven’t used it with the daily challenges. I’ll have to try it next time.

@campfire , great to start off with a metronome and move on to recorded drum beats or backing tracks. I like my metronome, but tracks are better.😉

@campfire i have found that old metronome to be a strict old gal (mine is female. Does yours have a gender?) I sometimes use her to challenge me in practice by actually slowing her down in a song to a point of discomfort. It surprises me how I play better then when returning to regular tempo. It isn’t always about going faster. Try it sometime for kicks.

Great win @campfire . Using a metronome or drum tracks will definitely help with your sense of timing and staying consistently in the groove. I use mine in the challenges all the time – I usually find I need to begin my learning and practicing at a much lower speed than presented in the lesson. I then begin moving the BPM up little by little and before you know it, am playing at least at the targeted BPM and higher. It is really interesting for me to use it with songs. I find my timing drift within a song. The metronome has definitely helped me become more consistent and as mentioned, stay in the groove. Keep playing 😎🎸🎶
