Have you had a chance to read the TAC Guide? It is full of useful ways to find stuff like the TABs. It took me a while to learn how the site worked. This guide cuts the learn time down.

I am not sure which lesson you are on, but usually it is the low E and A strings. I strum 2 strings at a time then move up to the A and D strings and strum them. Your ear will help you get clarity. The overall progression from a numbers standpoint is 1,4,5 or E ( the root) is 1, A is 4 (EFGA) and eventually B is 5 (EFGAB). I’m not trying to be geeky, that’s just how I remember it.

He keeps explaining that it’s on the tablature, where do I go for that?
