  • 4 Ginger G chord and 3 finger power chords?

How essential is a 4 finger G chord verses a 3 finger. I’m a perpetual beginner and first learned the G chord with 3 fingers. Tony uses a 4 finger G chord. I feel like I’m starting new all over again. Also, I thought power chords used 2 fingers instead of three? My pinkie does not want to line up as a third option for those power chords. Is it normal for anyone else who has started TAC to feel like they are starting all over again? A bit frustrated that the 30 days to play is being such a challenge so far…

Normal yes. I had always played a 3 fingered G until TAC. It felt awkward for a long time but eventually it is just natural to me now unless I’m playing fast and not coming out of a D chord. I’ll play the original. I go now with how it feels or the fuller sound I want. The barred, little open A vs 3 fingered A is also one I continue to work on so I can use that chord position up the neck. One has to get out of your comfort zone in practice to add it to your playing repertoire.

Thank you for the reply. I think I was hoping I would pick this up faster than I have been so far. So a bit frustrated that I need to work on things a lot more. Getting outside the comfort zone will hopefully lead to new and better achievements. Thanks again.
