  • Buzzing sound afterwards

Posted by JohnWP on February 29, 2024 at 1:53 pm

On my second week of the 30 day challenge, and for some reason whenever I play I sometimes get a buzzing sound after I play a chord. Brand new guitar so I’m not blaming equipment, but I can’t seem to isolate what I’m doing wrong. In other words I can’t make it happen but I can’t stop it when it does. Any ideas what I’m doing wrong

    Hey John,

that happens a lot when you are a beginner, and could be a few different reasons, so don’t despair. Could be that your finger placement is too far from the fret, or a pressure issue, ie. too light, could be that your nails are slightly touching adjacent strings… try to pick individual strings as you go through your chord, to see what needs amending

Also, even though your guitar is brand new, it may be contributing to the buzz. Sometime take it to your local shop and make sure it is set up for you. Often makes a night and day difference
