NGD Celebration
I received my new Lava Guitar late yesterday. I was only able to play with it for about an hour because it arrived after 8 pm and I had so much going on yesterday.
I got her tuned it up and started going through some of the TAC exercises including yesterday’s “Fill Up The Tank”!It feels really good in my hands. The frets are slightly smaller (logical since it only has 17 of them), I’m struggling a bit to form an A chord but I can do it easily with fingers 2-4 instead of 1-3. It appears that I’ll have to make that adaptation. The sound is gorgeous and the action is perfect up and down the neck.
This LAVA ME AIR guitar can play like an acoustic (which is all that I have done so far), has a Carbon Fiber body, but she also has built in electronics and can play electrically and with added effects. Once turned on, it has 5 different effect types that are programmable: from common delay reverb to advanced overdrive pitch shifting.
In addition there’s a knob in the cavity that allows you to mix between natural acoustic and electronic effect playback through your amp so you can make the effects as subtle or as pronounced as you desire.
Some other things I like about it already are:
1. The body is much thinner than regular acoustics which makes it much more comfortable to play with nothing cutting into chest or your strumming arm.
2. The neck is just slightly smaller making it easier to get your hand wrapped and the fingers coming at the frets near vertical (to prevent muting).
3. It’s small and light weight so I’m not constantly banging it into things.
4. The value. It only cost $499! I was at my local guitar shop last week and looked around. He didn’t have anything under $800 and those were used guitars. Most of the new guitars were $1,300 and up.
