Changing strings
Hello all TAC warriors! I am so enjoying myself! I had a friend make a suggestion tell me (who plays great guitar!), in order to play guitar even better or to make it easier is to switch my strings out for lighter strings. Any thoughts? Thanks I appreciate your responses.

@michaelsbicycles1gmail-com , my short and simple answer is, it depends.
What type of guitar, guitar scale, playing style, action setup etc.. A person who plays a lot of fingerstyle may want lighter strings. One who plays a lot of heavy rhythm guitar with heavy strumming may prefer heavier strings.

No simple answers for strings other than; play what you like, what is comfortable, and if you can get good quality… invest in yourself.
Personally, because i switch a lot between the electric and acoustic, i prefer relatively light strings on my acoustic guitars. My current favorite are the “gypsy jazz” strings. D’Addario EJ83L .010-.044 (light strings)
Even on a full sized dreadnot there is very subtle if any volume loss. The benifit is i don’t feel like i’ve been trying to bend metal bars with my fingertips, and is a much more enjoyable playing experience for me.
That said, experiment and see what works best for you. I really don’t think the music popo will arrest you for trying new things. As long as you dont damage your guitar or you, new and wonderful music and noises are made by not necessarily doing what everyone else is doing or has done.

I couldn’t handle the pain of steel strings. So I changes to nylon ones. That might offend the purists, but my finger tips are much happier. I find it easier to press on a string that does not cut into my fingers.
