  • Positioning of guitar

I’m am (grateful) back to woodshedding after a LONG hiatus. I’m playing on my old favorite, a well used Epiphone. My question is about positioning of the guitar body. The best position in terms of tone seems to be with the body vertical, while it’s easier to see what string/fret my left hand is fingering if I tip the body just enough so I can see where I’m fingering. What is your experience ?? Any feedback would be MUCH appreciated. I’m having a ball following these workouts, and I’m grateful to be in the company of so many new musical friends. My primary musical outlets for the last 8-9 years has been the marimba and Mbira (Zimbabwe style) and the African kora (21 string harp) plus choral bliss.

The tried and true answer is the classical guitar position with one foot propped up. That is the least stress ergonomically. But next is up with a strap so that one can stand up or sit down without significant change in guitar position. Most of us don’t do either but just grab and go.
