Witness
I’m uptight, watched the news tonight
It’s on my mind, can’t unsee their plightA young child of war, desperate and alone
Stood weeping on their bones, no shelter nor no home
Orphaned in the sadness, a victim of dragons madness
With it’s lust for killing, of which we all bear witnessA daughter a mother, a bride a lover
Knelt crying in the rubble, family taken from her
Indiscriminate and malicious, an attack so vicious
The innocent killing, of which we all bear witnessToo old to survive, under tarps they cried
Laid starving together, in the camps they died
Famine and sickness, there is no forgiveness
No relief just killing, of which we all bear witnessHe’s never born arms, never caused any harm
Yet he’s tortured and slaughtered, on his mourning farm
He was seen as extremist, in the genocide business
Another sectarian killing, of which we all bear witnessWatched the news tonight, can’t unsee their fight
We never object, just change channel and forget
What will history deduce? What will be our excuse?
What did we do? When we all knew.We all knew, Witness
