Cover song, Jimmie Rodgers: Waiting for a train.
Posted by outdoorgator on January 8, 2025 at 4:37 pmWell, here it is finally. So far 3 weeks and about 40 hours. LOL!! Many more to go before I’m able to not look at hands.
Never thought after 2 years I would still be having a blast!! Learning new techniques while applying them to the songs I love to play.
Thank you Tony and TAC Family for the best 2 years ever!!!

I have never heard this song but love it. Nice voice too! Great job with the playing. 🙂 I have only been here for a few weeks and I am also loving it. One day I will be as good as you. 🙂 Thanks for sharing!

Thank you!
Get ready because before you know, it happens quickly. Looking back to my 30 day challenge seems like yesterday! LOL!

Jimmie Rodgers is considered the Father of country music. He was the first inducted into the country music hall of fame.
Here is a short documentary of his life as the Breakman.

What a great performance! You have a fantastic voice for this song and made really good use of it and played a Martin – just as Jimmie Rodgers did. I could hear several signiture elements of Jimmie Rodgers in your playing. And your timing was so good. I guess I will be listening to some more Jimmie Rodgers songs during the weekend and your performance as well. Thank you for sharing!

Thank You! The guitar I was playing is an GS mini by Taylor. I tried both mini Taylor and Martin. Same price but the Taylor just sounded warmer.

Great rendition and cover of the Singing Brakeman and America’s Blue Yodeler. He mentions Texas in this song, but Blue Yodel No. 1 (better known in Austin as “T for Texas”) was another great classic of his. As you can tell I appreciate your performance. Thanks.

Thank you!
Love his music and all the history. Yes T for Tx is on my hit list along with the Pokadot Blues.
Just like Tony said about other artist in our challenges. His signature technique is in every one of his songs! That’s what makes it so much fun because all your hard work doesn’t end with one song!

Nice job! Thanks for posting it, gives us all a bit of encouragement.

Wow. I’m only a few weeks into TAC and this is the 1st TAC performance posting I have looked at. The bar is now set pretty high, thanks for a great song.

Thanks for your compliment, means alot to me.
There’s several others here on TAC that are very talented. Some with over 6 years in TAC.
That’s what I love about our TAC family. Being able to watch others and have something to work towards on our goals.
Keep at it and have fun! That’s the most important thing. When you’re struggling, don’t give up, there’s a breakthrough right over that hill.
