  • Leveraged vibrato question

I’m working on the 5 day vibrato challenge Day 2 – Pullin’ Nails where tony is using what he calls “leveraged vibrato” and I have a question. Tony mentioned this technique does not work on the high E string as you will pull the string off the fretboard. But is there any reason not to pivot up instead of down? Tony is pivoting down from where he starts so the string is bending towards the floor, and this indeed will make the string fall off the fretboard when playing vibrato on the high E string. But why cant you instead turn up? so the string is bending up toward your face not down towards the floor? This way you can use it on all strings except the low E string, which you wont use often in a solo anyway?

Any technique that works for you, should be fine! Tony is just sharing a variety of different ways but he wants us to use the methods that we get the best results from. He will let you know when there is a good reason not to something, other than that you are not bound by his instruction.
