I have had 2 guitars for about 30 years and started reading Mel Bay and Harry Reser guitar chords and practices with little to no excitement. Needless to say I never maintained practice and never got better. Then I retired and decided to actually take some lessons one day a week. Great teacher but one day a week left me asking questions on one day and trying to muscle throughout the rest of the week.
Then I saw TAC on YouTube and took a chance on his 5 Day challenge, which progressed to the 30 day pre-course which I completed in about 15 days. Even with some prior training, it was still tough enough that i should go back through it 3 more times ;-). My rhythm is not smooth, but I am progressing and that is in great part to Tony’s reinforcement program.
Having started the 30 day challenge on the 7th of Dec, it is now the 2nd of Jan and I am enjoying the challenge, and fun, learning to hammer on and slide Neil Young’s Old Man song. My transitions are too slow to maintain the rhythm, but my wife says I am clearly learning and playing cleaner chords…..I never thought I’d be pleased to receive back handed compliments about how “that almost sounded like the song”.
I don’t like not being good quickly, but I keep learning more chords each week and TAC lets me work on scales and fingering techniques on many of the chords I strum to each week.
Over all believe TACis a program/process that I will stick with and will be amazed how well I play next Christmas.
Living the dream in Pace, Florida and can’t wait to take the guitar to the beach this summer.
