  The Happy Hollow Boys (my channel)

  I’ve never played in front of anybody, mostly because despite practicing songs 1000s of times, I rarely get through one without a mistake. This reality led me to quit over 30 years ago after more than a decade of intense dedication.

  I went by the old saying about the definition of insanity, doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. So I didn’t beat myself up or feel like a failure. I knew I’d given it all I could and then some. I felt I had to face the fact that I simply didn’t have ‘it’

  Then during the COVID lockdowns decided to give it another shot and ordered a cheap acoustic online and started up. Surprisingly, a lot of the muscle memory was still there and I could finger the chords and run the pentatonic scales, and some of the runs and leads I had learned. I managed to relearn a lot of the songs I used to play and felt quite pleased with myself.

  I still wasn’t considering playing in front of anyone, but I started taping some practice sessions and improvisations. I don’t recognize the old guy in these videos, but I thought I’d share them on YouTube for the hell of it.

  Nice channel! Your property looks great. I was just in PA in September to visit my daughter and her hubby in the Oley Valley. You are playing well. Thanks for sharing! Stay warm now.

  Wow, thanks man. I never planned to show them when I made them. Hence the just woke up and still in pajamas in many. LOL

  Made for self feedback critique.

  A little embarrassed for my slovenly appearance, but I saw/heard something there I had expressed that I felt was worth sharing.
