  • Fretboard Wizard challenge number 1 question

Posted by Scott H on May 2, 2026 at 7:56 pm

Hi, In the video of the first FW challenge for practicing the musical alphabet, what string(s) are you strumming with your right hand? Your right hand is hidden behind a pop up screen all the way through the video. Are you strumming just the upper string of the pair each time, or the two strings for each pair simultaneously, or something else? Thanks for your assistance!

I hate to see questions go unanswered, especially a newbie’s question!

I was hoping a FBW alumnus would reply to you. Now that I see your question about to fall off the 1st page I thought I would bump this and attempt to answer it. I don’t have FW myself but then it occurred to me that you might be asking about the Foundations of Fretboard Navigation section. So I went in and watched lesson 1 and Tony explains how to find notes starting on the A string. That’s kind of logical since our alphabet begins with A also. He moves up the A string and then moves on to the E string. He uses the low E which is on the top of the guitar.

    Hope this answered your question.
