Well, in a couple of days a knee replacement surgery. Standard stuff now days. I was thinking how weird that is; that is for old people. Well dude! Reality strikes again. Here is a very simple finger-picking of the currently popular combo package (Amazing Grace/House of the Rising Sun). It actually works well to sing it over those chords. I will not sing it though, going instrumental. Why? It’s Monday, and I know how tough it is to start the week anyway. Also, I just decided I would show……………………….a little grace. Yeah, I did increase the tempo as it went along.

Nice pickin’ @Philb ! Very smooth transitions as well!

Both songs have a very interesting history: here’s a bit on the House of the Rising Sun: https://www.songfacts.com/facts/the-animals/the-house-of-the-rising-sun

@petelanger Thanks! That was very interesting. I knew mostly about the interpretation and lyrics of House of the Rising Son done in the 60’s folk scene and by the Animals. The other view and earlier lyrics make sense. A classic either way. I had the Frijid Pink album with this on it. It may be my favorite version. Thanks for the music history lesson.

By the way, do you know the Grace Like Rain version of Amazing Grace. It was very popular about 15 maybe 20 years ago. I’m not sure where it originated. I guess it was probably Tod Agnew, but Chris Tomlin popularized it as well. My old church used to play it frequently during worship. I miss hearing it.

@Philb – I still have that Frijid Pink LP. I agree with you, that band did the song justice.

@Guitargeezer They certainly did. I have a CD version of it around here some place.
@Braden Thanks! I think you will like the FP version. I had a couple complications, but addressed those yesterday. So, back to the guitar after a couple days off, and on with the recovery. Keep well!
