  • First crack at Ain’t No Sunshine, May benchmark song

Posted by Sean M on May 17, 2026 at 3:39 pm

This is the first time I’ve ever been able to get a barre chord. It’s not pretty but I feel good about it.

Are you kidding? First barre chord??

That was so great in so many ways:

    • your barres were pretty clean
    • singing was in sync and very enjoyable
    • chord changes smooth

    You graduated! So well done!

Wow, that really means a lot. Thank you. I tried to learn how to play two other times in my life with no success. I now have cancer and I’m determined to learn, at least a little. In fact, my daughter and I are learning together (we started in Jan.) and having so much fun! I love this program.

You’re doing great and I’m not just saying that. You have some serious potential, a very pleasant voice singing on key and you are definitely in a groove in this clip. I’m sure this isn’t an isolated success, there has to be more because it doesn’t come from nowhere!

Thank you. I did pick up and play the ukulele for a number of years, thinking four strings had to be easier than six! I played a lot of songs but never got past just strumming open chords.

Yes. Sean @eviepennydadgmail-com that was great. Just loved it…really smooth playing and great singing. Ive been horsing around with this song for a few years…every time it comes up as benchmark, but then always put it back on the shelf. Play it better each time but have never put the lyrics in and so you taught me a lot today brother. Thanks man! Keep em coming!

That’s really kind of you to say. Thank you. I had played this before on ukulele (just strumming open chords) but this was my first attempt on guitar. Your kind words mean a lot.
