  • Pick getting stuck in upstroke for today’s lesson (6/25/26)

I find that I’m struggling with today’s lesson with the quicker/shorter length of time/space to do the upstroke. I find that my pick is getting sorta “caught” on the way back up. I guess my hand isn’t loose enough? I will keep practicing.

Anyone relate or have thoughts on technique?

I didn’t see this earlier. Yes I have struggled mightily and conquered. I will tell you the trick if you promise not to tell anyone. Slow down. Slower than you think should be resonable….then play as softly as you can possibly play and you will likely find yourself ever increasing volume unintentionally…adjust back to softly as you can. Do this over and over, after 100 or so times you should begin to feel your pick differently. Don’t increase speed until a new feeling is felt. Give’r a go, see what you think.

Yes – this is great advice. Thank you!! I always try to jump ahead to where I think I should be, but I have to remember to slow it down.

I have to remember that I can’t play like John Mayer after a quick practice session.

    🙂
