Today is July 18, 2026. I joined TAC on December 11, 2025. I’ve had a birthday since I first signed up and I’m now 73. I’ve grown frustrated and gone down numerous YouTube guitar lesson rabbit holes, searching for the “holy grail” of lessons that work for me. Since I’m paid up to December 10,2026, I’m going to start TAC over from the beginning. I have no plans to give up. I even bought a new guitar, maybe to make playing a little easier. We’ll see how the next 5 months go. Wish me luck.

    Happy Sunday @martyepp

It’s pretty common to be dissatisfied with our rate of progress and to be on the search for that panacea that’s going to project us forward. Nothing can steal our joy of playing the guitar more than the man behind the strings!

Wish you more perseverance this time. The only thing that guarantees progress is consistently playing and TAC is a good vehicle for that. Come to forum whenever you need encouragement or help with anything!

I take what I can do and don’t sweat the rest. My goal is to practice daily for 15 minutes while enjoying the journey. I lean into what I can play right now and keep perfecting that. The lessons that are beyond me right now, I go through them slowly during that week and consider it a stretch of my current capabilities, knowing it will come back around again.

Thank-you both. No intentions of giving up. I’m too old for that! I’ll continue on with TAC and do what I can do.
I have just about got down the National Anthem that I’ve been working on since the 4th! I thought it appropriate for a Navy vet to learn on our 250th birthday!!

Thank-you for your service! That’s great that you have learned to play the national anthem, I’ve never even attempted that one, good job!

I, too, am starting over at 66. Last time I played was like 40 some years ago. I’m having trouble stretching my fingers, but I’m going to keep at it.

Yep, the finger stretching is a big deal with me, too. And stiffness.
