Dupuytren’s contracture
I have Dupuytren’s contracture. (tissue tightens between ring and little finger)
I may have surgery to fix which would mean weeks of guitar down time just when Ive got momentum. Thinking I could work through the fret board wizard while recovering.
In the mean time Im thinking going to lighter strings and lowering the action on my guitar might help. Just a G chord is hard.
Anyone have any thoughts?

I think a delve into theory is a great idea when you can’t put your hands on the fretboard. Studies have shown thinking through shooting a free throw in basketball can actually improve one’s shot when the do play. A great time to memorize the Fretboard if you habit already done so.

This spring I had Rotor Cuff Surgery on my left shoulder. I knew I would not be able to use my left fretting hand for a while. I decided to work on finger picking patterns until I could get my left hand on the fret board.

Good luck. I have had two surguries and one needle proceedure involving my index, 3 and 4 fingers over the years. Be vigilant with the post op exercises. Use that hand as much as possible.
