Catch and Release

Get ready to be comfortably uncomfortable… sounds weird I know, but today’s transition challenge is one that uses friendly dissonance to emphasize chord changes. This is a technique that can be used in small doses to really punctuate an upcoming chord change. You will be using a note that doesn’t “jive” played against one that does effectively catching and releasing it just prior to the chord change… (see what I did there). A highly useful technique that fills a ton of musical space even though it’s really only two notes.
