Hi there @PMAC and @solitaire . I think the reason why Tony’s course is a bit different in that regard is it is not specifically about teaching you to play songs but about how to play guitar. That may sound like the same thing but they are poles apart. I came here because decades of dabbling about playing easy songs that didn’t stretch my playing never helped me improve or learn real guitar technique. There was no joy in picking up the guitar.

In the past 7 months the daily playing, challenges and techniques have helped propel me so far forward from where I was in April I’m just a bit stunned. I realised this first in July when I retried a song tutorial on YouTube that I simply couldn’t do previously and suddenly I knew all the techniques I needed not only to play it but do it with ease.

My advice is use the course for improving your technique, dexterity and overall movement around the fretboard then if there is a song you want to learn pop onto YouTube and find a free tutorial. I did exactly that with Rain Song which I posted on Play For Us a few days ago. I would not have stood a snowflake’s chance in hell of playing that in April and although it stretches my playing to near my limit I can do it now. My routine is TAC each day then I learn the Saturday song from Angela Petrilli on YouTube each week to see how my playing is going.

I guess it’s like that old ‘Give someone a fish or teach them to fish’ adage. Teach someone a song and they can play a song. Teach them to play guitar and they can play any song.
