I too was expecting ‘show’ etiquette when I started gigging; like broadway show. 😅 But, the patrons are there to have a good time; drinking eating… talking, laughing, singing… I saw many faces watching me, but then there is the crowd by the bar… Most of these bars/restaurants are tinny and the sound bounces off all the walls. Sometimes it is difficult to hear myself, but I did the best I could. Every owner has asked me back to do my own gig. ( I typically open for other bands.) The scene remains lively when the ‘headliner’ plays, as well. Maybe it’s a Long Island thing! I am learning so much… Next up- getting my music onto my ipad! 😂
