The fingers will toughen up and spread less but also you will learn to trap the string close to the fret wire and not have to press nearly as hard, your fingers will develop better form over time. I’ve been playing for over a year now and I still mute at times on some basic open chords but as you play transitions more and more this begins to happen less and less. I strongly recommend you move to transitioning rather than just forming the same chord over and over. Pick a chord sequence and just go through it regularly. I’ve been doing this with Hotel California for the past 6 months while internalizing the strum pattern at the same time.
