  • beats for the notes

    This week there have multiple types of notes. I understand the eighth note. half note and quarter note and what they look like. But at the end of each measure in Lemon Maringue and Key lime, the note is a stick. I googled musical notes and couldn’t find it. When I bring Tony’s video to .5 speed, he treats it like a quarter note, one full beat. Is that what a stick is?

    I had not noticed, but went back and looked at those two pieces and yes, the “stick” is a quarter note. I think it looks odd because it is percussive with a seizes of x’es on the staff. I also think it is odd because it has the x’es sharped depending on the key. You make an interesting observation. You have a sharper eye than I.

    @campfire I believe those are muted chords.
