Yeah, it’s a small win. We’ve had several bats descend from the attic in the last few days. My housemate has killed 3 or 4. My dog was freaking out the other day about something in my closet. I now think it was a bat. I haven’t opened it yet.

Well, when I went to open my guitar case this morning it looked like it was torn (it’s a soft case). I quickly realized a small bat was attached to it. I couldn’t tell if it was alive or not, but it obviously was when it landed. It didn’t move at all until after I scooped it up into an old coffee can that I had. After a few minutes I could hear it flapping around.

I was a little anxious about the whole affair. First, the fact that it was on my guitar case was very unsettling. Second, the thought of a dead animal in my living space always freaks my out. I’ve had that experience before and it’s not a good one. I don’t have a problem with little creatures of any kind, I just don’t want them dead in my house. It took me a few hours to actually open the case and start to play, but I got there.

    Big win!

Ha ha ha….. @GuitarGeni , your story is so funny. As a kid I grew up on a farm and we had bats come down from the attic one evening. I don’t remember how my dad got rid of them, but now the little buggers are protected. Look at the bright side, you won’t have mosquitoes in the house. I think I’d freak if the little furry critter showed it’s fangs at me. I guess you better keep you guitar in it’s case so the little buggers down take up housing in through the sound hole.

Yeah, I grew up on a farm too. We had wasps in the attic. No bats. I’ve been here nearly 5 years and this is the first time we’ve had bats in the house, so it’s a little surprising. I learned that bats are protected here in NJ which is why I trapped it. I guess it was just dormant when I found it because it was day time, but it was really creepy because it didn’t move at all when I moved the case and I almost touched it when I went to open the case. My first thought was that my dog had somehow gotten to and torn the case. Luckily my second thought (it’s a bat!) occurred before I tried to open the case. Phew!
