Every program or teacher has their own view and own program to make you a better player. I have had so many courses and online programs it is crazy. I have been playing for more than 15 years and I should be a much better player than I am. I just stayed in my “comfort zone” and didn’t venture out much. I started out finger picking and I never completely quit but really didn’t songs that way. I finger picking challenge this week came pretty easy to me, so possible all that work was not for nothing and that is my big win for this week!

I am originally a finger picker too, but I told myself I would master that pick. I have decided to learn 10 flatpicking songs and have about five so far and found that it is becoming an enjoyable thing to do too. I do TAC for practice and have a couple of songs to work on outside of TAC. Keeps me challenged. Hope you are enjoying your guitar journey.

There is so much to learn and so many different resources that it can be challenging. I started off doing 3 courses at once plus jumping around learning songs. I am currently doing 2 courses TAC and highly structured program and have made great progress.

The one thing that helped me the most is having a written practice routine for the week. It makes sure I keep skills in the rotation and that I’m not just chasing the shiny object. If I want to learn a new song then it goes in the routine where I might practice chord transitions every other day and timing or intro riff the other days. It will stay in the routine until often for months until I get proficient with it or get sick of it.

I have been playing for more than 15 years, and have pretty much stayed in my little box where I am comfortable. I used to play regularly with a bluegrass player, a friend of my fathers that was teaching me a lot, but unfortunately got cancer and passed away. After that I got caught up in different course and everyone has a different option, and youtube teachers pretty much the same. If you’re going to do that, I would highly recommend sticking to one person’s program. Since I have been with TAC I can see my progress and my wife, kids and others have noticed it as well. I play a lot of worship music, and my goal is to play with our church, personally I could do that right now, but sometimes the nerves kick in on that. That is another box and I need to step out in faith and we need a guitar player. I appreciate the feed back, one of the things I really like about this program.
