Family Jam #2
OK. We had the second of what I hope will be a continuing series of Family Jams this Sunday. Tons of fun with myself, my brother, and my cousin. All three on acoustic this time (two Seagulls and an Alvarez (Walnut, beautiful guitar that my cousin has)).
We did realize that we need to be more deliberate about showing up with something for the group to play. We are all three at different places in our guitar journey and want to have things we can all enjoy. One that we did do was “Take This Job and Shove It” by Johnny Paycheck. That one was fun and included a walk up which has been a challenge for me in the past.
Additionally, I am officially a multi-instrumentalist (sort of) 🙂 My sister-in-law has a mandolin that she has never really learned to play. I bugged her to bring it, tuned it up, and looked up a chord chart. Within five minutes, my brother and I were doing duets with guitar and mandolin. Really cool! I would not have been able to do it without what I have learned in my guitar journey. Knowing the 1-4-5 in G made it a breeze. Next up, we need a banjo!
