Hi @Strangeoldgal , I have found no better exercises to strengthen my fingers than our very own Daily Challenges. If these seem too much, take the first section only and drill that for 10 focused minutes. Finger strength is like money: you think you can’t have too much until you do and then you realize you never needed that much to begin with.

@Strangeoldgal , something I did when first learning was to just kind of be with my guitar. For example, when sitting watching a show or TV, I would just sit and hold chord shapes while pressing on the strings. Not playing or strumming, just holding. Short intervals doing this during the day or evening, will help in creating finger strength, muscle memory, and help build up the fingertips. My tips really hurt when first learning. Doing this, even for a couple of minutes throughout the day really helped me. Of course, if you can pick or strum even better. It takes a while, so be patient.

something someone had shown me a while ago was to start down around the 12 fret and at first the high e string. place your fingers one fret apart, it will be a challange at first. keeping all your fingers down play the string then lift the pinky and play etc.. then go back. When that gets easier move up a string and when you get to the low e move up the neck to say the 10th and continue. It helps both your reach and finger strength.
Also the previous comment is great as well…
time and practice …. keep at it. you will get it.
