Fretboard Wizard
Posted by PaulabMoore on September 16, 2025 at 11:09 amI started this courser a few months ago. I also subscribed to Fretboard Wizard which I started before I jumped into the Challenges. My problem is I can just about keep my head above water doing the TAC everyday and weekends. I don’t know how I’m going to be able to get back to Fretboard. I’ve thought that I may take a break from TAC before I resubscribe when this year is over, and do the Fretboard before I begin a second year.

Why not continue to build your mind/finger, hand, muscle connections with the challenges ten minutes, and then move on to fretwiz for the brain? I found it easy to underestimate the importance of muscle conditioning to play what I wanted to play, which is everything. Fretwiz is informationally dense but can be run through repeatedly for new revelations. Get what is germane to you at the moments you are learning it and move on.

@PaulabMoore you can always take a break from TAC but I wouldn’t if I were you. Try to reframe the concept your daily habit in a way that it doesn’t overwhelm you. Rather than looking at the daily challenge as a list of tasks to get done, think of it as a tasteful buffet where you can cherry pick the most intriguing delicacies. Choose the thing(s) you want to do and mark complete. Doing a bit is better than doing none and if you took time off you might be doing none. Just sayin’!

Spot on @petelanger . Could be the greatest benefit of the Daily Challeges is they gave me the habit of guitar. Today, it would almost make me ill (withdrawl? : ) , of a kind) if I did not put my hands on a guitar.

Another thing to consider @PaulabMoore
If you are concerned about your investment in the annual TAC course and Fretboard wizard you can rest assured that the annual membership is easily converted into a lifetime membership. All You have to do is purchase the lifetime before the first year has expired, and then request a refund on your annual membership. They will immediately refund the fee for year 1.

@petelanger I did not know that. Amazing and I will look into it. It really isn’t about money, more about not missing any lesson challenges to do Fretboard Wizard. But if I have a lifetime membership missing a few lessons here and there won’t be so painful. Thank you so much for responding.

@jumpinjeff This is definitely a huge benefit for me. It’s like getting to be with Tony to jam every day. I’ve never been so eager to play on a daily basis. I don’t know how much a lifetime subscription is, but it has to be a lot for me not to go for it.

It’s $599. And just let Victoria (support) know that you want to upgrade. When I did it I got the $197 refund in about 10 minutes.

Lifetime costs $599, call it $600. You could have bought lifetime when you signed up for that price. But most people wouldn’t do that, because they don’t know what it’s going to be like before they have tried it for a while. TAC will pretend like you were buying lifetime instead of an annual membership by refunding you the cost of said annual fee. So on the one hand you could say you are buying lifetime at a discounted rate of ~$400 after the first year at $200. But I see it more like it is. You don’t have to wait until the end of year 1, you can do it whenever and it’s simply a never-ending membership. I don’t think you have to worry about the website ever being discontinued, Mr. Polecastro is a recording artist and has been teaching guitar for a long time, he’s worth tens of millions.

The great thing about this course is, you don’t need to “fret” about missing a daily challenge. They come back around throughout the year. New content is slowly introduced. TAC was a great platform to get me in the habit of committing to play everyday. Even if it is only 10 minutes. Today, I play everyday for at least an hour, more if I don’t have the family distractions. I don’t always to the daily challenges, and that’s OK. I don’t ever feel like I’m behind, or not caught up because the purpose of TAC is constant progress. @petelanger nailed it with his description. I do have Fretboard Wizard, and have gone through it twice now. Will probably go through it quite a few more times, as every time something else clicks. There’s actually a pretty big correlation between Fretboard Wizard and TAC. After you’ve gone through Fretboard Wizard a couple of times, you’ll notice on the next daily challenge you do. Play Happy!
