  • Fretting with arthritis

Starting Norwegian Wood this week, and while I do not have a problem forming a D chord the way I have to, I can’t do it the way Tony teaches when I have to also fret additional strings. For example, in the second line of the Technique tab, third measure, second chord, I can’t do without rotating my hand to reach the 4th fret of the D string with my pinky, which puts the nail of my middle finger face down on the high E. That hurts! If I swap my index and middle for the regular D, then it’s awkward and slow to move other fingers around for those odd chords, if I can do it at all.

So, is the third line of the tab a substitute for the second line which is not really doable for me? Will it work in the song?
