Georgia on my Mind by Ray Charles- Cover of course
Posted by lollyt on February 29, 2024 at 12:44 pmI played this song on my Taylor 814 CE-N. It’s a nylon string fusion guitar. The neck is like a standard steel string guitar, but the strings are classical strings. So, the highest three strings are nylon and the lower three are wound. I like the mellow sound with this old jazz classic.
There are a few hiccups. But I felt like this was as good as I could get. For some reason when I am recording, I make more mistakes, forget the words and the chords and just generally make a mess of things.

Thanks Ruffin. This was hours and hours of repetition and practice. You will definitely do it some day.

That was excellent! You sing well. I identify with the mistakes and forgetfulness when the recording starts. Still, you pressed on. Kudos; and well done!

Thank you! It gets to the point that if you don’t just keep going, you will never have a recording. So… onward! This one was a long learning curve. Now I need to find another song to work on for a while.

So Beautiful, brought tears to my eyes, you inspire me! I loved your notes/chords, your vocals…so so perfect. The only part was the finale you might improve on, I liked the beginning even if you took a minute to warm up.. SO AWESOME!

Thank you for the kind words Patty. Those jazzy versions of the G chord at the end are very hard for me to transition to. Is that what you mean? Or was it a vocal thing? Those chords are a G maj 7 and a G maj 7add13. So pretty, but getting my fingers there is really hard. But I just need to keep at it, and I believe I will get there. I am definitely better than when I started.

your voice so perfect and I loved everything, it was so subtle, a tiny hesitation on the close for just the last measure or so, I LOVED LOVED YOUR PERFORMANCE!
-
Thank you so much for the kind words. Yes, that final G chord is tough for me to get to for some reason. I need to be disciplined and just sit down and work in that transition.
-
Yes was the final transition, but it was so close to absolute perfection!! No song is ever 100%. I just thought the whole song was 1000 percent and then the end I was like hey, I hope the close is perfect too. It does not get much better than your performance for any guitarist, you seem like a pro. You would stun the crowd in an admiring way if you played this for them.

Thank you @PattyBZ11! I am a one song wonder at this point. Ha ha. The crowd would have to REALLY like that song. Ha Ha. Honestly I play for the praise band at my church. Just rhythm and strumming. So I can play some songs. But this one was more of a guitar song with some singing included. It was hard to learn. But more to come for sure.

Hi Lolly that was awesome…you did a great job and I sure enjoyed that. Excellent playing, nice rhythm, smooth transitions and good picking. Beautiful singing too…kind of low and raspy…really liked it! Im the same way… once i hit record it wants to go south, but the more I do it the easier it gets, just like everything… thanks for sharing…rock on sister!
